Product Description


Kefeng's TZM (Titanium Zirconium Molybdenum) is a molybdenum-based alloy containing 0.4-0.55% titanium, 0.06-0.12% zirconium, 0.03% carbon, and the balance molybdenum. By mixing small amounts of Ti and Zi, TZM alloy gains a high recrystallization temperature, making TZM twice as strong as pure molybdenum at 1300°C. The optimal doping percentages are 0.4-0.55% of titanium, 0.06-0.12% of zirconium, and 0.03% of carbon. Xi'an Kefeng Powder Metallurgy has decades of experience in producing TZM material using either powder sintering or vacuum arc-casting.

Molybdenum is similar to tungsten, with a melting point of 2620ºC, slightly lower than tungsten.  The elongation capacity is better than tungsten, so it is more suitable for producing thin wires.  Molybdenum is transformed into TZM by using small amounts of extremely thin carbides, containing more than 99.2% up to 99.5% of Mo, 0.50% and 0.08% of titanium, zirconium and carbide.  TZM is more resistant to pure molybdenum and has a higher re- crystallisation temperature and better sliding resistance. The recommended operating temperatures are between 700 and 1400ºC.

Characteristics and features

TZM has a wide range of unique properties in high temperature environments, such as high strength, creep resistance, hardness and low vapor pressure. It also performs a low coefficient of expansion, excellent resistance to heat and corrosion and good machinability. Compared with pure molybdenum, Titanium Zirconium Molybdenum has a more stable crystalline structure and higher recrystallization temperature which result from the small amount of zirconium and titanium doped into the molybdenum substrate. With their standard size, the composite carbides Mo2C, TiC, and ZrC also help refine and restrain the crystalline grain of molybdenum, which helps the alloy become more weldable and creep resistant than pure molybdenum.

Application

Molybdenum has a unique property of which it's melting point can reach 2610ºC, it is widely applied in high temperature vacuum furnace melting environment such as sapphire growing furnace, quartz glass melting furnace, and rare earth melting furnace. The working temperature of  Moly sheet is above 1500.  The molybdenum products are usually used the construction of furnace parts, and the fabrication of parts for the electronics and semiconductor.
